January 3, 1998 -- DOVE STREET DE-LIGHTED
In this last issue of the season, we wish to thank all Dove Street and Dune Lane residents for their enthusiastic support during this year’s Festival of Lights. Visitors to the area were overwhelmed with the display and the work involved with design and maintenance. Response to the Deep Well was very gratifying, much larger than in previous years.
LIGHT SOUP FOR THE SOUL
We were pleasantly surprised one evening to find a young, newly wed couple taking pictures of each other under The Magnolia and at the bench under a shower of beautiful blue lights. They had just been married in Jamaica and were here on the Island visiting with relatives.
HEARD ON THE STREET
“Do you have to sign a special covenant to move onto this street?” (No, but you should be willing to string along).
“How much more is your light bill?” (Than Disneyworld?!?)
“Do y’all have a special set of rules and regulations on this block?” (Rule #1 - Must be light-hearted).
“Are those Greek letters in the multicolored lights at the beginning of the street?” (It’s Greek to us!)
“Is that [Deep Well] structure some kind of toll booth?” (Who toll him that? - ed.)
“You need a job.” (No comment)
DOVE STREET UNPLUGGED
It took many of us six hours to remove lights from our yards. As usual, various unstrung heroes pitched in to help one another in this annual, bittersweet task.
