How it All Began: A Brief History of Dove Street

In 1990, a group of energetic neighbors began a holiday lighting tradition when one of the neighbors brought a new baby girl to their house. Their 40-foot magnolia tree was lighted for their daughter's first Christmas.

Other neighbors decided to join in the lighting and each year more and more have joined in the lighting project.

Visitors who came to see all the lights offered money to help pay their light bills. They didn't accept the money but knew other Islanders did have needs and decided to donate the money to charity, adopting the Deep Well Project.

Dove Street and Deep Well say “THANK YOU” for your generosity.
